Although Warwicks force had more men than Edward's army, the Earl refused the challenge. Edward sent Gloucester to entreat Clarence to return to the House of York, an offer that Clarence readily accepted. Reconciled, the royal brothers moved towards Coventry, and Clarence urged Warwicks surrender.
