The Battle of Alexandria is fought between the French army under General Menou and the British expeditionary corps under Sir Ralph Abercrombie, where the British troops had advanced towards Alexandria. Abercromby defeats the French but dies during the battle. The British advance and capture Alexandria 2nd Sept 1801
