The Portuguese follow the Battle of Diu by capturing key areas such as Mombasa, Socotora, Muscat, Ormuz, Goa, Sri Lanka & Malacca. After the battle Diu, Portugal rapidly captures key ports in the Indian Ocean like Goa, Ceylon, Malacca and Ormuz, crippling the Mamluk Sultanate of Egypt and the Gujarat Sultanate, greatly assisting the growth of the Portuguese Empire
