Battle of Mount Tumbledown: overview and significance
What happened?
Mount Tumbledown was attacked on the night of 13–14 June by the Scots Guards against Argentine Marine positions. The battle formed part of the final series of attacks on high ground immediately west of Stanley.
Why was it important?
The fall of Tumbledown and neighboring positions made continued Argentine defense of Stanley increasingly untenable and helped bring about the surrender later on 14 June.
