Ho Chi Minh Trail: Supply Route, Interdiction and Vietnam War Timeline

The Ho Chi Minh Trail was a network of roads, tracks, pipelines and staging areas used to move personnel and supplies from North Vietnam toward communist forces in South Vietnam. Much of the network passed through Laos and later Cambodia, making it a regional logistical system rather than a single road.

The United States devoted extensive reconnaissance, air power and special operations to disrupting the network, while North Vietnamese engineers continually repaired, expanded and concealed it. Its persistence was central to Hanoi's ability to sustain large-scale operations in the South.
