Marc Isambard Brunel and Isambard Kingdom Brunel
This Brunel history archive follows two generations of engineers. Marc Isambard Brunel developed mechanised manufacturing systems and the tunnelling shield used during construction of the Thames Tunnel. His son, Isambard Kingdom Brunel, became one of the best-known engineers of the Victorian era through railway, bridge, tunnel, dock and steamship projects.
